OGDENSBURG - John Alan Phillips (Jack), age 87, of 317 Franklin Street, Ogdensburg, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Crouse Irving Hospital after a short illness.

John is survived by his beloved wife Elizabeth (Betty) (Ireland) Phillips; his daughter Betsy Phillips of Rochester, New York and his daughter Susan Pierucci and her husband John of Sicklerville, New Jersey; his grandchildren Ellie and Andy Seaman.

He was predeceased by his beloved sister Diane Dennis of New Jersey and his brother Derek Phillips of Amsterdam the Netherlands.

John was born on June 25, 1937, in Corning, New York to the late Charles and Maryadina Phillips. He attended school in Corning, NY and graduated from Rancocas Valley Regional High School, Mt. Holly, New Jersey.

John’s career started at Medford Lakes Savings and Loan Association as COO in Medford Lakes, New Jersey. He then served as President and CEO of North Country Savings Bank for thirty-two years. In addition to his career John served on the Boards of The United Way, Chamber of Commerce, St. Lawrence County Banker’s Association, Frederic Remington Art Museum, and Mater Dei College.

He also served as Chairman of the Savings Banks Association of New York State and national director of the National Association of Mutual Savings Banks, National Council of Community Bankers, and Savings and Community Bankers of America.

John enjoyed golfing, traveling and spending time with his family.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday March 18 2025, beginning with visitation from 5:00 PM until the time of the services at 6:00 PM at Fox & Murray Funeral Home, with Reverend Laurena Wickham Will officiating. The burial will take place in the spring.

In his memory, contributions may be made to the Ogdensburg Library or St. Lawrence Valley SPCA.
