POTSDAM — A local coffee spot received a facelift recently.
With assistance from Fred Hanss, Director, Potsdam Planning and Development Office and funding from the Potsdam Village Downtown Revitalization Initiative and the current business owner, Stephanie Russo, Jernabi Coffeehouse storefront has been upgraded.
In 2020, downtown Potsdam was selected as a winner of the $10 million Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) award in the North County region.
The DRI award was to advance Potsdam’s preservation efforts, prominence in the arts, streetscape and waterfront improvements, and support for traditional and new technology businesses to create a mixed-use downtown where nature and culture coexist.
Last month the project took off with exterior work completed by Northern Tier Contracting of Gouverneur and Northeastern Sign Corporation of South Colton. The project has elevated Jernabi’s visual appeal and creates a more welcoming entrance for residents and visitors to match its comfortable and inclusive atmosphere on the inside.
Jernabi is known for its espresso beverages and serves locally roasted coffees from St. Lawrence Valley Roasters.
This year Jernabi Coffeehouse celebrates 16 years of the Jernabi name.
Jernabi Coffeehouse is located at 11 Maple St.
