Massena: -- Jeffrey J. LaFave, age 73, of Massena passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Canton-Potsdam Hospital while surrounded by his family.

There will be no public calling hours or funeral services at this time. A celebration of life with full military honors will take place in the summer at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena.

Jeffery is survived by his daughters, Julie Pratti and Fiancé Mike Quenneville of Huntsville, AL, Jennie (Tawn) Evans of Potsdam, NY; and a son, Jeffrey J. II (Danielle) LaFave of Rochester, NY.  Jeffrey is also survived by his Fiancée, Cathy Bradish of Massena, NY.  Also surviving Jeffrey are his grandchildren; Bailey (Tyler) Tresidder of Massena, Jenna (Jeremy) Paige of Massena, Zachary (Alexa) Fregoe of Rochester, NY, Nicolas Brousseau of Rochester, NY, Emiley (Dan) Stone of Colton, NY, Erica (Tristen) Harvey of Massena, NY, Ethan Evans of Potsdam, NY, Jeffrey J. LaFave III of Louisiana, Aiden LaFave of California, Owen LaFave of Rochester, Christy Rinaldo of Canastota, NY, along with step-grandchildren; Sara and Nate LaDuke of Massena, NY, with their children Connor, Madison and Kendall and   9 great-grandchildren. Jeffrey was also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Jeffrey was born to the late James and Catherine (Marshall) LaFave on September 6, 1951, in Ogdensburg, NY. Jeffrey graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy.  He enlisted into the United States Marine Corps shortly after high school and served his country proudly during the Vietnam Conflict and was honorably discharged after 4 years of service.  Upon return to the states Jeffrey was active with the National Guard. He later attended Mater Dei College, Ogdensburg, NY. 

He began his career at Diamond International Industries.  He then was employed with General Motors in Massena for a short time before becoming employed with Reynolds Metals.  Jeffrey continued at Reynolds Metals/Alcoa until retirement after many years of service.

Jeffrey enjoyed golfing, and watching his favorite football team the Buffalo Bills. He and his son also enjoyed traveling to watch his favorite team.

He was also a member of the Massena Amvets Post No. 4 and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.

In addition to his parents, Jeffrey was predeceased by two brothers,  James LaFave and Stan LaFave along with a step-daughter Elizabeth “Lizzy” Collins.

Memorial contributions can be acknowledged with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Wounded Warrior foundation.
