FORMERLY OF BRASHER FALLS – James P. Rogers, 83, of Hampton, NH, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 17, 2025 at his home with his daughter at his side.
He was born in Vermontville, NY on July 9, 1941, son of the late John and Elizabeth (Perry) Rogers. Raised in Brasher Falls, NY, he graduated from St. Lawrence Central high school with the Class of 1960. He went on to receive his Bachelor’s and Master of Education from Buffalo State University in 1964 and 1968.
Jim moved to Hyde Park, Vermont in 1970 and taught art at Lamoille Union High School for 7 years before opening Starfire Jewelry in Morrisville. He provided jewelry, watch and clock repairs for 30 years before retiring in 2007. His retirement years were spent in Moira, NY in the summers playing golf and building four-wheeler trails. Winters were spent in Bradenton, FL soaking up the sun. He recently moved to Hampton, NH to be close to his daughter, Kelly.
Jim was known for being a conversationalist about his interests in art, astronomy, and geology, his vast collection of pocketwatches and clocks, and of course, his love of golf. He had memberships at Stowe Country Club and The Farm Resort for many years and won the Stowe CC Championship in 1981. But his favorite course (and he played many throughout the east
coast) was the Malone Country Club in Malone, NY, at which he played frequently with his brother Jack.
Surviving family members include his daughter Kelly Leroux and her husband Rick of Greenland, NH; grandchildren Anna and Jase Leroux; siblings, Shirley Kenney of Massena, NY, Carolyn McGrath also of Massena, Jack & Diane Rogers of Moira, NY, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Elmer Rogers and Donald Rogers.
