CANTON – An inmate at the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility who allegedly caused injury to a person with a deadly weapon was indicted on attempted assault and burglary charges Thursday by a St. Lawrence County grand jury.

Jerry Yerden, 38, was indicted for second-degree attempted assault, second-degree burglary and second-degree criminal contempt.

It is alleged that on Oct. 1 in the Town of Oswegatchie, Yerden caused physical injury to another person by means of deadly weapon or instrument.

The burglary indictment stems from Yerden allegedly entering a building unlawfully on Nov. 20 in the Town of Edwards while disobeying a mandate of the court.

Court documents also noted that Yerden, if convicted on these charges, could be sentenced as a second felony offender stemming from a Sept. 7, 2012 conviction for second-degree attempted conspiracy in the St. Lawrence County Supreme Court.

In other grand jury action:

Elizabeth Daniels, 39, of 4 Northwoods Road, Hermon, was indicted for second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, three counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, seventh-degree criminal possession of controlled substance, and second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia.

It is alleged that Dec. 16 in the Town of Gouverneur, Daniels knowingly possessed two or more ounces of methamphetamine and an undisclosed amount of heroin with the intent to sell.
