HEUVELTON – Heuvelton Central School will recognize the Class of 2025 Honors Group. Four students will be recognized this year and are invited to speak at graduation on June 27. The students in this group have taken our most rigorous high school courses, including Advanced Placement courses, and have earned college credit through SUNY Potsdam and/or SUNY Canton.
The honored students are:
Miah Scott, daughter of Jeff and Michelle Scott, is ranked first in the Heuvelton Central School Class of 2025 with a 98.95 cumulative grade point average. Scott has completed multiple AP courses and earned several college credits through SUNY Potsdam and SUNY Canton. Throughout high school, Scott participated in Varsity Soccer, Basketball, and Softball, earning several sportsmanship awards for all three sports and was selected to receive the Basketball Coaches Award in 2023 and 2025. She served as a Class Officer and is member of the National Honor Society and the current President of the Van Heuvel Chapter of the NHS. She is the recipient of the RIT Women in STEM award, Clarkson University Achievement Award, SLU Augsbury North Country Scholar Award and a recent recipient of the NYS Office of the Attorney General Triple C Award. Miah will be attending Clarkson University in the fall where she will study Mechanical Engineering.
Willem Gleeson, son of Joshua and Alexis Gleeson, is ranked second in the Heuvelton Central School Class of 2025 with a 97.54 cumulative grade point average. Gleeson has completed multiple AP courses and earned several college credits through SUNY Potsdam and SUNY Canton. Throughout high school, Gleeson participated in Varsity Soccer, Trap Team, Whiz Quiz, Marching Band, Stage Band, Modern Band, Jazz Band, Heuvelton Encore, and is a member of the Potsdam Community Band. He is a member of the National Honor Society, High Power Rocketry Team, is Class President, and is the school's first Board of Education Student Ex-Officio Member. He was a 7News Arts All-Star Award recipient, Evergreen STEM Scholarship winner, Syracuse University Leadership Scholar, Boy Scouts of America Eagle Scout, also receiving the BSOA Order of the Arrow and a recent recipient of the NYS Office of the Attorney General Civic Ambassador Award. Willem will be attending Syracuse University in the fall, where he plans to study Mechanical Engineering.
Shane Mudge, son of Kevin and Patricia Mudge, is ranked third in the Heuvelton Central School Class of 2025 with a 97.30 cumulative grade point average. Mudge has completed multiple AP courses and earned several college credits through SUNY Potsdam and SUNY Canton. Throughout high school, Mudge played Varsity Soccer and was a member of the Trap Team. He was a member of the National Honor Society, High Power Rocketry Team, Whiz Quiz, Marching Band, Jazz Band, and Heuvelton Encore. He is a 7News Academic All Star, member of the Boy Scouts of America, and the recipient of the RIT Computing Award, Clarkson University Leadership Award, SLU
Augsbury North Country Scholar Award and a recent recipient of the NYS Office of the Attorney General Triple C Award. Shane is also the first HCS graduate to earn and receive the NYS Seal of Biliteracy. Shane will attend Clarkson University in the fall to major in Software Engineering.
Cassidy Pray, daughter of Andrew and Jillian Pray, is ranked fourth in the class with a GPA of 96.71. Pray has completed multiple AP courses and earned several college credits through SUNY Potsdam and SUNY Canton. Throughout high school, Pray played Varsity Soccer, Basketball, and Softball. She was a member of the National Honor Society and served as the Class of 2025 Vice President. She received the Student Sage Award, RIT Business and Leadership Award, Elmira College Key Award, University of Rochester Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science Award, Keuka College George H. Ball Community Achievement Award, LeMoyne College Heights Award, and the SLU Augsbury North Country Scholar Award. Cassidy will be attending SUNY Canton in the Fall as part of the 2+2 program with Upstate Medical University where she will study Sonography.
