MASSENA -- Sandy’s Steps to Edge Out ALS is a non-profit organization reaching out to those with Lou Gehrig's Disease in St. Lawrence County.
The event was named in honor of Sandra Tulga, who was affected by this horrible disease. Instead of taking pity on herself, she encouraged people to take action. No matter what her day brought, she faced it with a smile on her face. She was a courageous and beautiful person.
Family and friends made a promise to her to create a walk/organization in her honor in St. Lawrence County to help find a cure for this disease.
This year the event is being held September 21. Registration begins at 10 a.m. at Whalen Park, 505 State Highway 131, Massena.
There will be raffles and giveaways, run/walk prizes and a food truck.
The goal is to raise funds for research and provide community outreach for those with ALS.
Sandy’s Steps has helped over dozens of families, and over 5 just last year alone.
We are always looking for volunteers for the walk event, other events, plus help with meals, transportation, and odd errands.
A special “Thank You” to Laurie Gardner of 8 State Printing and Design, who has been very generous with her time and financial support since day one!
