Grand jury indicts Rensselaer Falls man on kidnapping charge

CANTON – A St. Lawrence County grand jury indicted a Rensselaer Falls man Thursday, March 4, on a kidnapping charge.

John Dobbs, 53, is accused of abducting a person and injuring a person by means of a deadly weapon on Feb. 27 in the Town of Morristown. He was indicted for second-degree kidnapping and second-degree assault. 

In other grand jury action:

Christopher McGregor, 43 of 13 Bishop Ave., Massena, and Nancy Perry, 39, of 221 Kingsley Road, Massena, were each indicted for first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

A traffic stop in the Village of Canton on Sept. 1 netted a street value of approximately $180,000 of crystal  methamphetamine and crack cocaine. The drugs seized were 47.6 ounces of crystal methamphetamine and 40.6 ounces of crack/cocaine, according to Canton police.

Joseph Clement, 32, of 7854 Marshey Road, Harrisville, was indicted for second-degree strangulation, first-degree criminal contempt, and second-degree criminal mischief.

It is alleged Clement applied pressure to the throat or neck of an individual at which time violating an order of protection issued Oct. 13 in Town of Fowler Court. Clement is also accused of damaging property in an amount exceeding $1,500.
