GOUVERNEUR – Gouverneur Central High School recognizes the 2025 Honors Group. Eligibility for the senior Honors Group is based on an overall average of 90 or above for 3 ½ years of high school.
Gouverneur Central has 24 members in the Class of 2025 Honors Group.
Carly Bartholomew is the daughter of Laurel and Jeremy Bartholomew. She has been involved in numerous extracurricular activities including National Honor Society, Student Senate, Tri-M, Area All-State, All-County for concert band, and Jazz Band. She has also been heavily involved in the Gouverneur High School theater department acting as stage manager for the musical and drama performances. Carly will attend Columbia University in the fall.
Kristen Burns is the daughter of Chastity Davis and Michael Burns. She has been involved in many leadership activities while in high school including treasurer of National Honor Society, Student Senate, president of Varsity Club, and captain of both the GHS soccer and competition cheer teams. Kristen will attend SUNY Brockport in the fall to study exercise science, with plans to pursue a masters in physician assistant studies.
Mya Connor is the daughter of Clint Connor and Brenda Bauter. She has taken on many leadership roles throughout her high school years including stage management, costume director, treasurer of DEI Club, and a lead role in the musical production. Mya will be attending SUNY Canton this fall and majoring in legal studies.
Samuel Cox is the son of Amy Catts and Gregory Cox. He is a proud newbie on the track and field team and is always striving to be better on, and off, the track. Sam will attend SUNY New Paltz in the fall to study astronomy with the intent of getting a BA degree and becoming an astrophysicist.
Mae Cummings is the daughter of Shawn and Clara Cummings. She has been involved in a variety of activities throughout high school including the soccer team, basketball team, class president, National Honor Society, Varsity Club, Art Club, and St. James youth group. Mae will attend Russell Sage College this fall and will be majoring in interior & spatial design, with the hopes to one day become an interior designer.
Hannah Dafoe is the daughter of Jeremy Dafoe. She has participated in many clubs and activities throughout her high school education such as Art Club, DEI Club, Drama Club, the spring musical, Chamber Singers, and was treasurer for the Tri-M Music Honor Society. Hannah will attend Clarkson University to study computer science in the fall in order to pursue a bachelor's degree and a career in software development.
Gavin Davis is the son of Brad and Amy Davis. He has been heavily involved in Gouverneur music and athletics, participating in swim, golf, soccer, indoor track, jazz, and marching band, as well as National Honor Society and Tri-M Honor Society. In the fall, Gavin will attend St. Lawrence University to study political science and government.
Tony Leon Fiacco Jr. is the son of Michelle and Tony Leon Fiacco Sr. Even though he started getting into activities a little later than usual, he has participated in indoor and outdoor track, is a member of the National Honor Society, stage crew for the spring musical and fall drama club, and currently serves as the Student Senate president of GHS. Tony will be attending RIT to study physics to hopefully become an astrophysicist.
Audrey Gaines is the daughter of Jayde Letcher. She has been involved in sports her entire high school career, the most impressive being her track and field career and achievements. Being a part of the team has taught her invaluable lessons in leadership, service, and dedication, all while prioritizing education. Audrey will attend college (undecided) in the fall to study business and pursue her track and field career.
Zoe Griffith is the daughter of Gordon and Teah Griffith. She has been involved in many leadership activities while in high school including president of National Honor Society, vice president of Varsity Club, and captain of the varsity wrestling team. Zoe will attend Presbyterian College in the fall to study art education and wrestle on the Division 1 women’s wrestling team.
Graydon Hance is the son of Jamie and Jessica Hance. Graydon is a member of the Varsity Club, National Honor Society, and National Technical Honor Society. Graydon has served as captain of the varsity soccer team and assistant captain of the Canton varsity hockey team. He is also a member of the varsity baseball team and Gouverneur Volunteer Fire Department. In the fall, Graydon will attend Norwich University, joining the Corps of Cadets on an Army ROTC scholarship. He will study criminal justice with a minor in political science. Upon graduating from Norwich University, Graydon will be commissioned into the United States Army.
Alexander Hendershot is the son of Brittany and Roger Zeller. He will be attending SUNY Potsdam in the fall to study history.
Madison Hopper is the daughter of Alan and Elaine Hopper. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the Tri-M Music Honor Society. She has been a part of the school's orchestra, select strings, chorus, and chamber singers, and has been the lighting director for all of the school's drama and musical performances as well as for the district's concerts since her sophomore year. Madison will attend St. Lawrence University in the fall.
Abigail Lucas is the daughter of Heather and Adam Crino, and Shawn Lucas. She has been involved in a variety of activities throughout high school. Abigail is a member of the girls’ soccer team and is extensively involved in the school’s theatre club where she serves as treasurer and social media manager. She also serves as class secretary and is a member of the National Honor Society. Abigail will attend SUNY Cortland in the fall to study criminology.
Cayden Middleton is the son of James and Britny Harmer. He has been involved in a variety of activities such as Whiz Quiz, basketball, and theater productions. He will attend SUNY Canton in the fall to study information technology.
Saloma Miller is the daughter of Mattie Miller. She has been involved in cross country, track, and Art Club. This fall, she will attend SUNY Oswego to study healthcare. Saloma hopes to travel during college and then build a career that allows her to help others while exploring the world.
Tucker Mussaw is the son of Chris and Kennedy Mussaw. He has been involved in many leadership activities while in high school including National Honor Society, Varsity Club, Student Senate, and captain of the football and baseball teams. Tucker will attend SUNY Cortland in the fall to study exercise science with plans to pursue a doctorate of physical therapy.
Charley Newvine is the daughter of Charles and Amanda Newvine. She has been actively involved in a variety of school activities including National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, DEI, Art Club, Drama Club, varsity soccer, Student Senate, and served as class treasurer. This fall, Charley will attend SUNY Potsdam to study early childhood education with plans to become a teacher.
Hannah Roderick is the daughter of Roland and Bridget Roderick. She has been involved in many activities while in high school including National Honor Society, Tri-M Honor Society, treasurer of Key Club, and captain of the cheer team. Hannah will attend SUNY Brockport in the fall to study biology with plans to eventually attend medical school.
Raine Rumble is the son of Jamy and Patrica Rumble. He is involved in National Honor Society and is captain of the GHS football, basketball, and golf teams. He will attend SUNY Canton in the fall where he will be on the men’s golf team.
Danielle Shattuck is the daughter of Art and Heather Shattuck. She has been involved in many leadership activities including National Honor Society, class vice president, Student Senate, Key Club, and Varsity Club. She will be attending Clarkson University in the fall to study psychology with plans to pursue a career as a physician’s assistant.
Gianna Terpstra is the daughter of Melissa and Justin Terpstra. She has been a part of many different activities including National Honor Society, Art Club, Newspaper Club, and dedicated a lot of her time to helping with the school's theater club. Gianna will be attending Franciscan University in the fall to major in software engineering.
Hannah Trimm is the daughter of Melanie Trimm and Shawn Trimm. She has previously worked on a dairy farm and currently is employed with Kinney Drugs. Hannah enjoys riding horses and spending time outside. Her post-graduation plans are to go to SUNY Canton and major in healthcare management.
Kaden Wells is the son of George and Tonya Wells. He has been a long-standing member of National Honor Society, the district’s Student Senate, the district's musical and drama club as its sound technician, Whiz Quiz, and three different, seasonal running sports. Kaden will attend Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in the fall to study chemistry with plans to become a forensic specialist for the NYS Police.
