Frederick Charles LaFlair, 73, Ogdensburg

OGDENSBURG - Frederick Charles LaFlair, age 73, of Ogdensburg, NY, passed away on late Thursday night, April 3, 2025 in Ogdensburg. Burial will be held in Notre Dame Cemetery on Friday, May 23, 2025 at 2:00PM with Deacon Mark Lalonde officiating. Per his request, there will be no formal visitation or funeral services.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Frary Funeral Home, Ogdensburg.

Frederick is survived by his two children, Sara Lynn LaFlair of Ogdensburg, and Victor LaFlair; two granddaughters, Vada and Valerie Knowlton, of Ogdensburg; his sisters, Sallie Gilbert, of Ogdensburg, Dorothy Riopelle, of Brockville, Ontario, and Victoria Earl, of Ogdensburg; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Frederick is predeceased by two brothers, Terrance J. LaFlair and Lawrence V. LaFlair and two sisters, Virginia Kio and Darlene Smithers.

Frederick was born on August 13, 1951, in Ogdensburg, NY, the son of the late Victor J. and Marion G. (Marceau) LaFlair. He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1970. Frederick enlisted in the United States Army in 1971 serving during the Vietnam Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1973.

Frederick married Beulah Seguin, that marriage later ended in divorce. Frederick was a skilled and dedicated self-employed landscaper for many years, building a reputation for his hard work and expertise. In addition to his independent work, he also shared his talents with Farrand's Flowers and the Augsbury family, where he contributed to their projects and helped enhance their outdoor spaces.

Frederick had a deep love for the outdoors, finding joy in a variety of activities. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating, as well as taking peaceful walks and scenic rides in his car. Above all, he especially loved the St. Lawrence River, where he spent many memorable moments enjoying the beauty of the water and the surrounding landscape. Being outside, surrounded by nature, was something he truly cherished.
