NORWOOD - Francis Howard ‘Fran’ Trombly 82, of Norwood, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend passed away suddenly on February 15, 2025. Fran was born on January 23, 1943, in Potsdam, New York, the son of Clayton and Verna ‘Helen’ (Strader) Trombly. He attended Heuvelton High School and
later married Judy (Fetterly) Trombly on February 15, 1964, in Lisbon, New York.

Fran was respected for his dedication to Suburban Propane. He served as a technician for 29 and a half years before retiring in 2004. He took pride in ensuring the safety and
well-being of his customers and often built long-lasting relationships with them. His work ethic, dedication, and ability to talk to anyone for hours earned him the respect and admiration of those he met.

Fran’s memory is honored and kept alive by his devoted wife of 61 years, Judy Trombly (Fetterly), his loving daughter Wendy Sharpe and ex-son-in-law Jamie Sharpe, his
beloved grandchildren, and their families; Britney Trombly (Christopher Pease), Brooke Trombly, Cora Sharpe (Lee Sattler), Dylan Trombly, and Hunter Sharpe. His cherished
great-grandchildren; Carson and Lynora Pease (Britney and Christopher), and Adaline and LyraMae Sattler (Cora and Lee), his brother Larry (Carol) Trombly; sisters Marylou
Johnston and Pat Trombly (Ross Kostin), his adoring dog Bear; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Fran was predeceased by his parents, Clayton and Verna ‘Helen’ (Strader) Trombly, his parents-in-law Herman and Cora (Chambers) Fetterly, his son Francis Trombly, his
sister Beatrice Bellinger and brother Clayton ‘Ike’ Trombly.

Fran is best known for his love of hunting and the outdoors, his contagious laughter and endless jokes, and his ability to carry on a conversation with anyone about anything for hours. If he ever went ‘missing’ for an extended period, his family knew he found someone to talk with. For a time, Fran enjoyed traveling to different states, learning and experiencing new things with his wife. They built a loving homestead together where they raised a close-knit family with their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and spent a great deal of time creating everlasting memories. Fran particularly enjoyed Sunday dinners where he spent quality time with his family tinkering with machines, teaching them to shoot, or playing games. He loved to spoil his grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Whether sneaking the kids M&M’s or jelly donuts, playing Play-Doh, or endless games of hide and seek, he made sure they knew they were special and loved.

The great-grandchildren especially loved going on side-by-side rides around the property to see the animals or picking wild blackberries together.

Following Fran’s wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial services. The family appreciates your kind thoughts and support during this difficult time. Memorial contributions can be made to the National Rifle Association, 11250 Waples Mill Road, Fairfax, VA 22030.
