Fleurette Shirley Romeo, 89, Massena

MASSENA - Fleurette Shirley Romeo, age 89, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family, and under the care of hospice on Tuesday, December 10, 2024.

Born in Cornwall, Ontario, Fleurette lived a full and loving life surrounded by family and friends. She was married to the late Frank M. Romeo Jr. of Massena for 50 years. Their home was equally split between Massena and Ormond Beach, Florida.

She leaves behind her devoted children, Susan Romeo (Christopher Sharlow) of Massena, NY, Frank (Christie) Romeo of Richmond, VA, David Romeo (Marisa Tenaglia) of Ormond Beach, FL, and daughter-in-law Margot Kasulis of Toronto, Ontario. Also, sisters Madeleine Rouselle of Massena, NY, and Jacqueline LaFleche of Cornwall, Ontario. She was predeceased by son, Barrie Romeo, and her sister Estelle Andre. Fleurette was a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense pride and joy.

Fleurette will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her kindness, and her gentle spirit. She enjoyed being a snowbird spending winter next to her son and family in her Ormond Beach home then travelling back to Massena to be close to her daughter and friends.

Fleurette had a deep appreciation for fashion, gardening, music, dancing and travelling. She loved having coffee and donuts with close friends, painting ceramics with her sister, and spending time with her pets. One of her most enjoyable jobs was as a buyer for a dress shop.

The family would like to thank the many devoted health care providers that gave Fleurette the ability to stay at home with her family.

There will be a Celebration of Life in early summer of 2025 at the Church of The Sacred Heart.
