POTSDAM -- The North Country Pickleball Club is sponsoring the Fall Firefighters' Fundraiser at Sandstoner Park on Sept. 7.
This event will benefit the Potsdam, West Potsdam, West Stockholm, Norwood, and Hannawa Falls fire departments. One hundred percent of the proceeds raised at this event will be donated to these departments for new equipment and training.
A variety of events are planned throughout the day at Sandstoner.
There will be a pickleball tournament, kickball tournament, 5k race that starts at 10 a.m., a chicken and biscuit dinner hosted by the Potsdam Elk's Club, adult beverage tent provided by McDuff's Pub, and music donated by Barker Productions.
At noon there will be a special pause for the 9/11 ceremony. During this ceremony our community will join together to thank our departments for their service, the fireman's prayer will be spoken followed by a moment of silence. This tribute will end with bagpipes dismissing the group.
There will be more than 50 raffle baskets which will include items such as sporting goods, home improvement items, baked goods, handcrafted and specialty wares and gift certificates from local businesses.
There will be an arts and crafts table for kids to color, create, and take home their creations.
A massage tent will be available. Chair massages will be offered.
"This is going to be a great community event meant to inspire and promote our fire departments, honor their service, and raise funds and awareness for their hard work and the need for more volunteers," said the North Country Pickleball Club Committee.
