MASSENA - Elwood V. Small, age 88, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Massena Hospital. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Phillips Memorial Home in Massena.
Per Elwood’s wishes, there are no public calling hours or public funeral services. Burial to take place at the convenience of the family in Calvary Cemetery, Massena.
Born on February 11, 1937, in Massena to the late Alfred A. and Geneva (Beaulieu) Small. After graduating from St. Lawrence Central, he married Norma J. Peets on February 16, 1957, at Sacred Heart Church.
Elwood retired after 33 years of employment from Reynolds Metals from the cast house.
Elwood is survived by his loving wife, Norma, his daughters; Nancy Slone of Rochester Hills, MI, Judy Small of Malone, NY, Denise Campbell of Baldwinsville, NY, Diane Billings of Riverdale, MD, Mary (Joseph) Peters, Dexter, NY, son-in-law Rick Norris of Massena, NY, 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law Nancy Small of Chicopee, MA.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Loralee Norris, three brothers Raymond, Stanley, Everest and a sister Shirley Choma.
Elwood was a 4th Degree Knight and lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a lifetime member of the Massena Elks Lodge No. 1702.
