Elizabeth I. “Betty” Krywanczyk, 87, Massena

MASSENA -- Elizabeth I. “Betty” Krywanczyk, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 am on Monday, July 22, 2024, at St. Mary’s Church with Rev. Lukas officiating.

The burial will take place at the convenience of the family in Calvary Cemetery, Massena.

Betty was born on August 6, 1936, to the late George and Emma (Dufrane) Zelius in Massena.

She attended and graduated from Massena Central High School in 1954, where she became high school sweethearts with her future husband, Alex Krywanczyk. They were married on September 6th, 1958, at St. Mary's Church in Massena.

She briefly worked at ALCOA and at their family restaurant, Spanky’s.

In her pastime, Betty enjoyed spending time in her garden, tending to her flowers, was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church and loved to cook for her family and friends.

She is survived by her loving children; Valerie and her husband, Steve LeValley of Massena; Nancy and her husband, Jim Paris of Kalkaska, MI; Steve and his wife, Serena of Massena; Ted of Massena; and Jerry and his wife, Stefanie of Elizabeth City, NC. Betty also leaves her memory to be shared with her 13 grandchildren; Nathan, Tyler, Nikita, Amanda, Ethan, Avery, James, Josh, Justin, Aaron, Allie, Jordan and Setcher, James, Joshua and Justin; 6 great-grandchildren; Zackary, Ainzley, Thomas, Destiny, Grace and Jay and Elouise along with her siblings, Judy Leroux of Cornwall Ontario Canada, John and his wife Peggy Zelius, along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, Alex in 2021 and sister, Joan Zelius along with a son, Matthew, in infancy.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Betty’s name can be acknowledged with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
