OGDENSBURG – Ogdensburg residents and visitors may soon have a new place to eat near the St. Lawrence River.
Following a public hearing that drew no comment Monday, Ogdensburg City Council agreed to lease the Dobisky Concessions to Nathan Griffith for $500 per month, for a total of $3,000 for six months. The lease will expire Oct. 31, 2024.
He will also be responsible for utility costs.
The news came as a welcomed surprise for the city, which had issued a request for proposals but did not receive any formal responses during the attempt.
Details on when the eatery will open, hours of operation or what foods might be expected there were not shared at the meeting. The councilors did not discuss the resolution prior to approving it.
The Dobisky Center previously housed “The Window '' eatery. Prior to that, the city had struggled to keep a regular operator since its construction. Despite its location and negotiable price, it remained unleased from 2013 until 2021.
The kitchen is 389 square-feet in size and includes basic commercial kitchen equipment and appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, grill, fryers and a stove.
