Dorothy E. Ritchie, 97, Heuvelton

HEUVELTON - Funeral services for Dorothy E. Ritchie, age 97, of Heuvelton, will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home, with Rev. Paul Dettmer officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held on the same day from 11:00 AM until the time of the service, at the funeral home.  Dorothy passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Claxton- Hepburn Medical Center.
She is survived by her son Donald Ritchie of Heuvelton, grandchildren Nanette (Michael) O’Leary of WA, Thomas (Janet) Ritchie of Ogdensburg, Scott (Tammy) Ritchie of Morristown and Casey Ritchie of Ogdensburg, several great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews & cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband Thomas Ritchie in 2001, two sisters Marjorie Fleming and Elizabeth Lovely and two brothers George & Fred Corrice. 

Dorothy was born on August 5, 1927 in Ogdensburg, a daughter of the late George & Nora (Matott) Corrice.  She attended Ogdensburg Schools and was married to Thomas J. Ritchie. 

A devoted homemaker, Dorothy was also a former member of the Wesleyan Church.

She enjoyed canning, gardening, watching television, crocheting, and had a deep love for her pets.
Memorial contributions in Dorothy’s name may be made to the Heuvelton Fire Department, ASPCA, or Gracious Friends Animal Sanctuary.
