The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee (GTSC) are issuing a warning to motorists in St. Lawrence County to stop for school buses with red flashing lights. As part of Operation Safe Stop, an annual education and enforcement campaign, law enforcement agencies throughout New York are cracking down on drivers who illegally pass stopped school buses. According to state data, an alarming 50,000 motorists illegally pass school buses statewide every school day. Do you feel enough is being done to protect students at bus stops?
