CLIFTON—Last month a DEC Environmental Conservation Officer in the town of Clifton issued tickets to a fisherman for allegedly exceeding fish limits.
On May 23, ECO Atwood responded to a report from a concerned angler regarding a publicly posted photo depicting an individual posing in the town of Clifton with what appeared to be more than the legal limit of brown trout, according to a June 20 press release.
The DEC did not name the offender in their press release.
The photo reportedly depicted the subject with 38 brown trout, far exceeding the limit of five per day while stream fishing.
Atwood reportedly recognized the subject in the photo as someone who was recently warned about fishing without a license, and issued two tickets to the subject for taking trout more than the daily limit and taking fish contrary to DEC fishing regulations.
The trout were confiscated and donated to a local food pantry.
