MASSENA – David M. Rogers, 69, unexpectedly passed away Saturday 15, 2025 at his home.
David was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on March 16, 1955, the son of Blythe (Wood) and the late Dale Rogers. He attended Massena Central Schools, where he graduated in 1973.
Following his graduation, David entered the US Army proudly serving his country until his honorable discharge on December 12, 1976. While serving he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Parachute Badge and commendations for Expert 45 Cal Pistol, Marksman M16, and Sharpshooter M60. He was incredibly proud of his time as an Airborne Infantryman in the 509th Parachute Infantry Regiment and cherished the time he spent in Europe.
After discharge, David worked for a time in the oil industry in Louisiana before returning back to the North Country where he worked in asbestos abatement and for Walsh Trucking before working for an independent contractor doing custodial work at Alcoa.
David was a motorcyclist and an aviation and skydiving enthusiast, with many hours and jumps in his log books. He enjoyed learning about military history and was proud of his ever-expanding collection of movies. He would often listen to veteran podcasts, when he wasn't watching his favorite films.
He loved the time he was able to spend with his granddaughter.
David is survived by his son, Joshua Goulart (Jocelyn Charleson) of Winthrop; his granddaughter, Kadaley Goulart; his mother, Blythe St. Pier of Massena; his sister, Debby (David) White of Clarence, New York; and his brother, Thomas (Melody) St. Pier of Massena.
In addition to his father, Dale, he was predeceased by his step-father, Lloyd St. Pier.
A celebration of his life will be held April 26, 2025 at the Amvets Post 4, Andrews Street from 1-4:00 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Gary Sinise Foundation.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, where friends are encouraged to share memories and offer condolences online at www.donaldsonfh.com.
