POTSDAM - It is with heart felt sadness that the family of Dan Edward Bigelow Jr share of his passing on March 8, 2025.
Dan was born in Buffalo NY to the late Ruth (Carrol) Bigelow and Daniel Edward Bigelow, Sr. On July 9, 1945 in Buffalo New York.
He attended Frontier Central School and Graduated from The State University Of New York College At Fredonia class of 1968 and received a BA in Social Studies. He earned his Permanent Teachers Certificate in 1974 and a Master's degree Phi Delta Kappa 1985 New Paltz NY. Dan went on to become School Administrator/Supervisor for The Miller and Bailey Schools in Ulster County New York in 1986.
Dan was the oldest of five children, his younger brother passed in 1970 during combat. He is survived by his sons Jonathan and Lawrence Bigelow from a prior marriage and later in life his two daughters Aradia and Sashi Bigelow with his current spouse Salena Minter, Potsdam New York. Dan has six grandchildren and three sisters Ruth, Colleen and Marcie Bigelow.
Dan was an avid sports fan and outdoorsman and found great joy in running, biking and swimming in addition to participating in 5k’s and half marathons and iron man competition. He also coached boys and girls running in his later years. Dan's love of firewood was another wonderful pastime and hobby for he took great pride in cutting, splitting and stacking firewood especially as he got older and heated his home with three wood stoves in the North Country.
His love for family, sense of humor and smile were infectious and he could strike a conversation with anyone, he will be deeply missed and never forgotten, rundeep….Dan.
