CANTON— The 61st annual Dairy Festival is fast approaching, promising to bring two days of fun to Canton with a variety of events, vendors, and displays Friday and Saturday, June 6 and 7.
The event will “celebrate the industries that have long supported” our communities, according to Abigail Wilhelm, spokesperson for the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce, who will be hosting the event for a second year.
Wilhelm said the festival will draw participants “from across the county and beyond to Canton,”which in turn “brings customers and exposure to the many businesses in Canton and those that participate in the event.”
Wilhelm said that the dairy festival highlights an industry that
“has historically been a pillar in St. Lawrence County and continues to provide critical jobs and economic activity to the area.”
Wilhelm said that the Chamber is also intent on “maintaining many of the traditional elements of the festival so that the community members and festival-goers can continue to enjoy them."
She said that the 61st annual Dairy Festival “will have something for everyone,” with a variety of vendors, displays, and activities staged in downtown Canton and Village Green Park.
Friday will feature pony rides, a petting zoo, and train rides around the park. Attendees are also invited to bring their lawn chairs and dancing boots for live music from Steelin’ Country.
Saturday will feature the community Dairy Parade.
This year’s festival will also feature the return of the “Duck Pluck,” a 50/50 raffle activity where tickets are purchased and corresponding numbered ducks are placed in the fountain in the Canton Village Park. Drawing will occur after the parade on Sunday, and winners do not need to be present to win.
Those who would like to take an active role in the 61st Dairy Festival can still sign up to participate in the parade with a float or marching presence. Those interested in joining the parade should visit the Dairy Festival event page at www.visitstlc.com/2025-dairy-festival-days to find the registration form.
The chamber is also seeking sponsors for the festival. Wilhelm said that “sponsorship of the Dairy Festival is a great way for businesses to demonstrate their commitment to quality of life in the community to the thousands of festival attendees.”
