POTSDAM — Two more assistant coaches will be joining the staff of the Clarkson University Men's Soccer program, as Zach Appel and Demba Ba have been added for the 2024 campaign.

Second-year Head Coach Augusto Lima and second-year assistant Colby Walker return for the 2024 season as well with the two newcomers having plenty of knowledge of Golden Knights' soccer.

Appel was a four-year member of the Golden Knights, though his time was abbreviated by the cancellation of the 2020 season due to COVID while also missing most of the 2022 season due to injury.

When Appel was able to compete for the Knights, he was a difference maker playing on both sides of the ball. In his three seasons, he played in 34 games while earning 23 starts, including 13 nods in 13 games in his senior season when he played 908 minutes.

Overall, he recorded a goal and two assists in 1718 career minutes on the pitch from 2021-2023 and also excelled in the classroom as a three-time Liberty League All-Academic selection while majoring in Chemical Engineering.

Ba graduated with a Business degree from SUNY Canton in 2019 and played for the Kangaroos for two seasons after completing his associate's degree from Monroe College in New Rochelle.

In his two seasons with the Roos, Ba played in 37 games with 23 starts, competing for over 2000 minutes with four goals and an assist for nine points. Ba has served as the St. Lawrence Central varsity coach since 2019 and is currently just shy of US Soccer National D License.
