CANTON – Come celebrate tree plantings with the Canton Tree Committee on Saturday, Nov. 9, at Mace Motors on Gouverneur Street from 10 a.m.to noon.
The public is invited to plant three trees at the site and then celebrate with light refreshments.
This tree planting is part of a planting of approximately 15-20 trees along Gouverneur Street, Goodrich Street, Farmer Street and Fairlane Drive. Many of the trees are flowering and will enhance the view along those streets with blossoms in the spring.
Also taking part in the overall project are several Canton groups to include the Canton Central School Middle School Environmental Club, which has been a strong partner in the past.
This is part of an overall project by the Village of Canton for trees in the village for spectacular spring and summer blossom displays, cool shade and rain protection in the summer and wonderful fall color displays. The Village Tree Committee has been active on this mission since about 2007 and has literally planted hundreds of trees in the village parks, streets and homes.
If you live on Gouverneur Street and would like to be considered for a tree please email lrudiger@aol.com and perhaps for some reason there might be an extra tree left over and might be considered for your property (you must be the owner and the trees are planted from the inside of sidewalk to home front).
