North Country This Week
CANTON – Members of the Canton Town agreed to allocate more than $10,000 in American Rescue Plan federal COVID funds to bolster security and safety measures in the town clerk’s office.
Town Clerk Heidi Smith requested the move after telling board members that people can now easily walk past the counter and into the office area.
At Wednesday night’s monthly meeting, town officials awarded a bid of $10,620 to Northern Glass, Canton, to install glass for additional window protection and a door leading to the office area that can be locked.
“There is a significant need in the Town Clerk’s office and it has been determined that additional infrastructural construction needs to be completed for the health, safety and welfare of the office,” the resolution states.
It was noted that the town procurement policy was followed and professional bids were received.
The work is expected to take two days to complete.
