Canton resident bags two major end-of-season awards for St. Lawrence University track and field

CANTON — St. Lawrence University men's track and field athlete has picked up a pair of awards. Nick Lyndaker of Canton has been named the USTFCCCA Mideast Region Runner of the Year, and also has been voted Liberty League Indoor Track Athlete of the Year by the Liberty League coaches, the conference announced.

At the NCAA championships, he took home the national championship in the mile run with his time of 4:06.45, and had the fastest flat track championship performance according to the USTFCCCA record book.

He was the Liberty League conference champion in the mile, and the 3000-meter run, while holding the all-time program records for the mile and 3000m after he broke his own records, along with the fastest all-time Liberty League mile time with 4:03.36.

He placed third in the AARTFC 800m with his time of 1:53.33, and grabbed first at the Fastrack National Invite 3000m with his time of 8:10.14. He also placed 20th in the national finals for the 3000m with his time of 8:47.45 at the NCAA championships.

His mile time ranks 11th all-time in Division III according to the UTSFCCCA list and was the highest finish in the NCAA championships among all the Mideast athletes. In the Mideast region, he ranks first in the mile, second in the 3000m, and third in the 800m. In the Division III, his best mile time (4:03.36) is third-fastest in the NCAA.

He will look to continue his remarkable season in the outdoor track and field season, as the men's track and field team returns to action on Friday at Hamilton College.
