BRASHER FALLS -- A Brasher Falls man is facing six charges following a domestic dispute in Brasher Falls.
State Police say Nicholas J. Rubado, 39, was charged with arson 3rd, strangulation 2nd, criminal mischief: reckless property damage, criminal mischief 3rd, assault 2nd, and harassment 2nd following a dispute on Sept. 10.
According to police, troopers responded to a domestic incident involving a vehicle fire on Smith Street at 9:42 p.m.
An investigation determined Rubado and the victim were involved in a verbal argument which turned physical when Rubado alleged started to choke the victim and presented a screwdriver in an attempt to stab the victim, police say.
The victim was able to get away from Rubado, though at some point during the altercation, Rubado is alleged to have intentionally set a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado truck on fire, also causing damage to a 2007 Honda Odyssey minivan, according to police.
Rubado was arrested and transported to SP Massena for processing.
He was arraigned in Town of Massena Court and remanded to St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 cash, $50,000 secured bond or a $100,000 partially secured bond.
