A poem for early spring

Posted

You cheer the early arrival
of Spring warmth.
But if you look behind the veil
you will see what it forewarns.

Early Summer will follow
bringing another year of record highs.
The burning sun will dry the fields
and chase the rain from the skies.
Across the world people will suffer
but not have the resources we do.
Crops will fail, forests will burn.
and children will die too.
There is no global joy
as you ignore another warning.
Climate change is knocking
as sure as the earth keeps turning.
Or will it?
