I’d like to start my Sound Off with a thank you. The other day my car got stuck in the heavy snow in a parking lot, and some nice guys who I’d never met before helped me push it out. It’s really great that people are willing to go out of their way to help when the weather conditions get bad and those of us without four-wheel drive need a little assistance! That being said, I would also like to voice a few concerns. During the snowstorms of the past few weeks, it seems that every day my drive to work is downright terrifying. The roads haven’t been cleared, or they’ve just been dumped with a bunch of sand that makes them all mealy and slushy, and most of the vehicles (including my own) are sliding all over the place while trying to get through intersections and make turns. I don’t understand it when I wake up in the morning and it isn’t snowing, take an hour or more to get ready, then go out to my car to see it has snowed about 3 inches or so overnight, how the main roads that go through the village of Potsdam, such as Route 11, haven’t been cleared. Obviously they know it’s been snowing, and obviously it stopped well before 8 a.m. when I make my commute.
