I read in the paper that if the village police are forced to cover the entire town of Potsdam then they will need more staff (Feb. 2-8, pg. 1). Sorry but when Macedon (Wayne County) village did the same thing, the police department didn’t get bigger--it got smaller. We were lucky to have one cop on a night a couple nights a week. I am really having a hard time grasping the fact that villagers think strangers from the town should ease their burden. Why do I have to stack wood and throw it in my wood furnace in 20 degree weather when you all have natural gas. Plus my insurance for the house is more expensive because I don’t live within a certain mile from the fire station. Yes, I have my own burdens both physically and financially. Can we please just take care of ourselves and stop wanting everyone else to do it like it’s owed to us.
