My heart broke to hear about this poor creature and the writer’s inability to get any action to rescue it. I’d like to offer a suggestion that hopefully will be a win/win for all. If you can not get any satisfaction from those who are sidestepping their responsibility, take a picture, take it to the local newspapers and have them print it along with your story. I can guarantee you, if you do this you will get some action. I also am quite sure that those who supervise the responsible parties will make sure it doesn’t happen again. It’s funny that you can be sure the DEC is around to ticket those who have already taken wildlife illegally, but when they have the chance to save wildlife, you hit a brick wall. I guess there is no money/fines in that. I speak as someone who has been there.
