Still supports tenure

Why tenure? Well, it is a sharp double-edged sword. I have personally witnessed verbally abusive teachers who could not be fired because of tenure. That was sickening, yet I still support tenure. Why? Academic freedom is crucial to the American ideals, and beliefs put forth by our founding fathers. It’s like this: Let’s say, you’re a Tea Party supporter. You act professionally, but the values you uphold are no secret to your students, whether you teach elementary school or college. These values are a part of who you are. Now, a liberal, left-winger becomes superintendent or president of your school or college. He doesn’t like you or what you stand for. He does not want you influencing kids with your twisted ideas. He wants you out, and wants to replace you with a liberal bleeding heart. Without a union, it’s a breeze for him to fire you. Just like that, and you’re out. That’s why we have tenure, to support the constitution of the United States, as was intended by our founding fathers.
