School bus commentary

I was following a school bus in Potsdam that was stopping at many houses. I was thinking how much pollution is spewed, how much fuel is wasted with the starting and stopping of this monstrous vehicle in town, the cost to the taxpayers, the time wasted, the plumpness of many children (and their parents), the amount of time their parents don’t spend with their children talking that could possibly steer them in a better direction and show them their love by walking with them to school or a congregation place with other kids so the bus didn’t need to stop so much. Why? If you are terrorized by our government and the daily news, about someone abducting your child, walk them to school or to the gathering place for the bus. There are so many obvious fixes for “our” behavior that we don’t even look at. I lived away from home on a farm while in high school and got up at 4 a.m. to climb up into the silo sometimes when it was -40, used a pick to chip away the frozen silage and throw it down, feed, milk and then bed cows, before eating breakfast and going to school. So whining about the cold gets no sympathy here. Fresh air, even cold air, hard work and exercise is good for the body and soul.  You parents should go to school board meetings and fix this.
