The writer of “Plowing Not A Waste” in the Jan. 19-25 issue missed the point completely. Nobody was objecting to plowing the roads or criticizing the efficiency of our winter road crews. They are to be commended. The question is: why are they sometimes plowing when there is nothing to plow? On two occasions I have seen a team of two huge village plows roaring up Elm Street plowing bare pavement. What is that about? On another day I have come all the way from Stockholm Center into Potsdam at 30 mph behind a dozen cars and a DOT plow plowing nothing. Why? That is the question. Very simple.
