In response to “...And Car Waste?” (Aug. 11-17): Understanding that cars do in fact emit harmful toxins into the atmosphere, I think it’s a bit of a stretch to equate that with “manure.” Have you ever stepped in a pile of auto emissions? I live in a village where horses are tied to a telephone pole and actually leave huge piles of manure right in the walking path of pedestrians. I don’t think it is too much to ask to maybe bring along a five gallon pail and a shovel and clean up after the horse. Frankly, I’m a bit surprised that they choose not to do it already.
