St. Lawrence County District Attorney Nicole Duve is quoted as saying that evidence indicates former Canton school bus driver Richard Stemples’ ability to drive the bus was impaired by the effect of prescription drugs he was taking. I’m sorry. The evidence doesn’t say that at all. Just because a prescription drug provides a laundry list of possible side effects, that does not mean that one will have any, or all, or some of those side effects. The DA cannot possibly sustain any burden of proof in this matter. She should have waited until all the evidence was in. That she did not defames Stemples and wastes public funds. Stemples should sue the school board, the county and the state police for their inability to think critically and their inability to put brakes on their collective rush to judgement.
