Goose rescue risky

Re: “Goose Rescue At Last” (Sound Off, Feb. 9-15), it should be shame on you. Do you not realize that a goose is a creature of nature and sometimes, bad things do happen. Just think if one or both of those women had fallen through the ice in efforts to rescue a goose. That would have been a tragedy to involve many people: rescue, police, ice search and rescue, to recover a human. Grant it, I am an animal lover, however you have to use common sense when it comes to risking the life of yourself and many others and let nature take its course. Why do you think the fire department, humane society, state police etc., did not take swift action. It was because they all know better. If it would have been a human being not an animal, you bet they would have been there in a heartbeat. I am in no way congratulating the two woman. What they did was very risky. Just think about it.
