Forget party politics

Northern New York has historically been Republican with most election results. Some local elections prove otherwise but for the most part, we are a conservative Republican voting base. Over the voting years we have been asked to join New York State’s Democratic party majority. These present representatives said that with their membership with the governing majority, they would get “things done for Northern New York”. What has been done? Aubertine was a part of the Senate stand off where our State Government was shut down for four months by his majority. Addie Russell could not even be heard in Albany at this time last summer. They still collected their pay after this four-month-late budget was passed. School budgets were on hold...expenses are now pushed into next year. Most New York high school students attend SUNY colleges for their upper education. Our state is broke but the SUNY leaders award themselves $30,000 to $50,000 annual raises. Russell and Aubertine are upset. Where were Russell and Aubertine during the times that these labor agreements were finalized? It sounds as if they were not included or given privy to this state labor agreement. So where is the advantage of being a member of the state majority political party? Forget party politics–just vote!
