In response to “Consider Consolidation” (Mar. 9-15), I am in support of consolidating but let me set you straight, because you have it wrong. I make less than $47,000 a year and have been teaching for 16 years full time. There is no jump from the $30’s to the $40’s in 12 months. I think you better explain that huge jump that will be having people think teachers are cleaning up. In my case, I am in the $30’s for pay, after taxes, after $80,000 in loans on six years of university. And that is after teaching 16 years full time all in North Country schools. Teachers don’t teach for the money I can assure you of that.
