To the person who wrote that the Town of Potsdam people have been benefiting from the village without paying, please explain to me what services I have been getting. I supply my own water, sewer, trash pickup, etc. I get my fire coverage from West Potsdam and Norwood. I get police protection from the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department and the New York State Police. My road is a county road but is plowed by the town of Potsdam. What services have I been receiving that I am not aware of? I have already been over assessed for years but have never fought it because I have always felt that I need to pay my own share. But this dissolution plan will be the last straw for me. If it passes, I will never spend another dime in the village. I have heard many other town residents say the same thing. It is not our responsibility to bail out the village of Potsdam for the mistakes that their leaders have made. Don’t vote to dissolve your village; vote out the people who have gotten you into this mess! Also, do not count on the state to give you any money if you dissolve; unless you are living under a rock you know as well as I do that the state is broke.
