Control underage drinking

In reference to “State Police Sting Nets Two in Hermon With Alcohol Sale To Minors” (posted March 1 on NorthCountryNow.com), I’d like to say good job! I’d also like to express my concern with the part of the article that states if you suspect a business serving minors to contact your local police department. As a downtown business owner, I see much of this happening, and have reported it on numerous occasions. I have been told time and time again that “there is just not enough staff” or that “we will check into it” or that “It’s a college town, they are going to find some place to drink.” The Potsdam Police does a fantastic job, and I am not doubting or speaking negatively about their ability at all. I just wish to voice my opinion on setting up stings at local bars. I witness underage children every weekend scheming their plans on how to get into this one or that one or who is working the door tonight. I think it’s time to control the underage drinking in the Potsdam bars.
