What are the St. Lawrence County Jail and the St. Lawrence-Lewis Board of Cooperative Educational Services thinking? An inmate was allowed to attend a weekly parenting class at the jail. This inmate had been incarcerated since July 2009 for 12 felony charges and two misdemeanors. Those charges included: 5 counts of 1st degree criminal sexual act, 1st degree reckless endangerment, 1st degree rape, DWI, 2nd degree kidnapping, 1st degree unlawful imprisonment, 2nd degree assault, 2nd degree menacing, criminal mischief, and reckless endangerment. Is this some kind of joke? Do they really think that adding a parenting class to a sexual predator’s resume is going to make a difference? Where is the money coming from to pay for this? The taxpayers? Maybe I’m just overreacting?
