Church is out of touch

There is a reason that I, and many of my counterparts have become “fallen Catholics” one of the reasons for me is their stance on the use of birth control by parishioners. I realize that the doctrine indicates that only God has the ability to create life, and it is his will if a woman (single, married, etc.) be “blessed” with a child. However, I feel that my rights as a woman should not be infringed on by my Church. I should be the one to decide when/if it is OK to conceive or not. The Church is certainly not going to take care of a child that I cannot afford to support, nor a situation conducive to raising a child. Further, the institutions that this bill impacts are Catholic entities, and they employee lots of non-Catholics, how can a religious institution demand that non-Catholic employees follow their outdated doctrine? Maybe if the Catholic church were a little more tolerant of women’s rights, of the LGBT community and stopped living in the age of Martin Luther, then maybe I would find my way back. But, at the moment my attending mass is rather hypocritical.
