What about car waste (“What About Horse Waste?”, July 28-Aug. 3)? Do those of us who drive motor vehicles clean up the pollutants that we spew? Car waste is not immediately unsightly but we breathe it and suffer the consequences. The various oil disasters that are happening are a result of our energy use. Are we rushing to clean up tar balls because we drive? It seems petty to complain about a bit of horse manure that is mostly benign and sometimes beneficial. It will probably be gone in a week. The other wastes will plague us for centuries.
