I would support looking into that idea of the 51st state (“51st State?” Sound Off, Jan. 11-17). The “North Country” is, in reality, it’s own culture, people and practices. It would be interesting to see research on it. If they can get million dollar grants to study the Adirondacks, they can get them to study the idea of the 51st.
