51st state?

As a born and bred Northern New Yorker, I can say that there is no place that offers more beauty or tranquility than our part of the state. But I am very concerned with the direction we are headed. More and more people on public assistance, less and less investment in our northern counties. Think of all the business that has been lost in Northern New York in the last hundred years. There is very little opportunity in our northern counties, unless you count the state prisons. No matter what your level of experience and education, good jobs with good pay are few and far between. It is my opinion that much of the cause for this is interference from Albany and the strain of high taxes that it takes to support NYC. Maybe it is time to seriously think about the creation of a 51st state, that being North New York. I bet we could do a better job of governing ourselves than Albany could ever do for us.
