The Scarecrow lead other “Wizard of Oz” characters down Main Street during the parade.
Many floats and paraders toured the route with a “Wizard of Oz” theme. The Waddington Figure Skating Club even gave Dorothy and Toto a lift.
Knight's River Breeze Farm featured a farm-themed parade float celebrating their 135 years in business, complete with cows.
Racers in the Go-Kart Derby Race come off the ramps at top speed down Main Street.
Go-Kart races on Main Street were coordinated by Barbara Davis, with divisions from toddlers to juniors. Taking first place in the Go-Cart Race Toddler Division was Liam LaMora.
Alex Backus cinched second place in the Go-Kart Race Toddler Division.
In the Go-Kart Race Toddler Division, Candace Cardinell won third place.
Taking first place in the Go-Kart Race Junior Division was Cheyenne Wilson.
Josh (no last name given) won second place in the Go-Kart Race Junior Division.
Colby Backus won third place in the Go-Kart Race Junior Division.
Friday night’s glow dance for kids from grades 6-12, coordinated by Tammi Jones was well attended, say organizers.
WADDINGTON – The 42nd annual Waddington Homecoming festival celebration held Aug. 4, 5 and 6 featured games, live music, food and other activities.
Youth activities included a go-kart derby, glow dance and Teddy Bear picnic.
A “Wizard of Oz” themed parade was a highlight of the event, along with the annual block party.
