Betty Swaney, 72, DeKalb Junction

Betty Swaney, 72, of DeKalb Junction, died August 18, 2010, at Canton Potsdam Hospital, Allen-Denesha Funeral Home, DeKalb Junction, in charge of arrangements.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Laurie Swaney and her companion Dave Reynolds of DeKalb; her grandson, Matthew White of Norwood; and a sister, Joyce Stoddard of Niantic, CT.

She was born March 8, 1938, in New London, CT, the child of Howard and Marion Barber Smith. She graduated in 1957 from Waterford High School inWaterford, CT. She married George Swaney, November 1, 1968 at the Old LymeChurch in CT; he died on June 2, 2007. She was an aide in Heuvelton for NYSARC, and before that she was a florist at Scott’s Garden Center in East Lyme, CT.

She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Heuvelton, the Rebekah’s, Ogdensburg, and Heuvelton Presbyterian Church. She loved to garden, cook and driving in the country.
