Family grateful for scholarship fund benefit

To the Editor:

The Family of Jesse D. McCarthy would like to thank everyone who attended the 1st Annual Jesse D. McCarthy Music Scholarship Fund Benefit. It was a huge success raising over $6,500!

We’d also like to thank the following area businesses and bands for their generous contributions: Commercial Press, Dicks Country Store, Music Oasis, Pierrepont Fire Department, 4Play, Stone Manor, Classic Country, Impulse.

Jesse D. McCarthy, 23 years old, was a well known local man who lost his life in a car accident on Sept. 17, 2009. Jesse was a talented musician who served as a New York State Corrections Officer and was an avid sportsman. The funds raised will be presented to local music students to help fund their pursuit of music.

There also will be a Memorial Motorcycle Ride Aug. 28 with a pig roast and music to follow. More information will be forthcoming as the date draws closer. The funds raised by this event will also go to the Music Scholarship Fund.
