Tia Marie Carista and Jerome Alexander Burks were married July 7, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Ives Park Gazebo in Potsdam with the Hon. Judge James A. Mason officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Arthur and Tammy Carista, Potsdam, and was given in marriage by her father. She graduated from Potsdam Central School in 2002 and is employed as a certified nurse’s assistant/personal care assistant at Maplewood Nursing Home, Canton.
The groom is the son of Patricia Burks, Rochester, and the late Joe Burks. He graduated in 1996 from Joseph C. Wilson Magnet High School and is currently employed by Parker Line Striping, Dekalb Junction.
The maid of honor was Chantel French, cousin of the bride. Bridesmaids included Amber French, cousin of the bride; Kelly Hennessey, friend of the bride; Mara Jerome, cousin of the bride; and Jessica McPherson, friend of the bride. Jezra Jerome, cousin of the bride, was a junior bridesmaid. Flower girls were Tati’ana and T’aja Burks, daughters of the couple, as well as Caramia and Madison Carista, nieces of the bride.
The best man was Deitrich Goodson, friend of the groom. Groomsmen included Darion Burks, cousin of the groom, and Tyrone Jenkins, cousin of the groom. The ring bearer was Mosi Mataji, nephew of the groom.
Celebrating with family and friends, the couple’s reception took place at the Parishville Fire Hall with planning and décor by On the Edge Designs. The cake was created by Mary Willmart, with entertainment by DJ Scorpio and photography by Ashli Mishel Photography.
The happy couple resides in Potsdam.
